A sunny day, family or friends in the garden, and that smell coming off the grill. Three things make it work: the right barbecue, good meat, and fresh vegetables. Get those right and everything else falls into place.
1. Choose your barbecue carefully
Three factors matter before you buy.
Size: For large groups, go with something substantial, like the Weber Genesis II 4-burner. For a small family, a basic model with a lid and wheels, such as the EasyComfort charcoal grill, does the job.
Fuel: Gas or charcoal. If you grill occasionally, charcoal is cheaper, portable, and gives the meat a genuine smoky flavour. If you grill regularly, gas is more practical. It heats faster, is easier to clean, and gives you more temperature control.
Location: A small balcony calls for a compact model. A large terrace or garden gives you room for a 3-4 burner grill, or even a pizza oven and barbecue combination like the EasyComfort pizza oven and grill.

2. Tools and accessories
Long-handled tools are non-negotiable: a spatula, tongs, and a meat fork. They keep your hands away from the heat and give you control. Add sharp knives, chopping boards, and a sturdy apron to the mix. A chef's hat is optional, but no one's stopping you.
3. The grill brush
It's the most overlooked item, but it matters just as much as what you cook. Every session leaves fat, meat fibres, cheese, and sauce residue on the grill grate. Without regular cleaning, bacteria build up and the flavour suffers. Use the brush between batches, not just at the end of the session.
4. Garden furniture and outdoor lighting
A garden barbecue is about more than just the grill. You need comfortable garden furniture: tables, chairs, benches, a parasol or gazebo. Picnic blankets, children's games, and swings all add to the atmosphere.
If the evening runs long, outdoor lighting makes a real difference. It sets the mood and means no one is left fumbling in the dark.
